The Tamworth Songwriters Association have been running their annual Songwriter Salute Awards for over 50 years. The contest is for Country songs and offers categories that include: Country Rock, Country Blues, Country Ballad, Bush Ballad, Lyrics (only), Youth (for songwriters under the age of 18 years) Gospel Spiritual, Local Heroes & Events and Novice etc.
The TSA generally open for entries on the 1st August and close for entries at the end of September. If you are a member of the TSA then entry fees are $15 per song. If you are entering as a non-member then the entry fees are $25 per song. So its always worth joining the TSA to get the discounts along with the other benefits they offer that can include showcasing your songs during the Tamworth Country Music Festival held annually in Tamworth.
The Australian Songwriters Association (ASA) have been running their annual songwriting contest for over 50 years. The ASA’s contest offers categories that include: Australian, Ballad, Country, Folk/Acoustic, Contemporary Pop/Dance, Lyrics (only), Youth, Spiritual, Songs for Children, Rock and Open etc. The contest generally opens for entries on the 1st April and closs in July. Following completion of all the judging the ASA host their Awards night in November.
SCALA host their annual songwriting contest known as the Festival of Original Music (FOOM) annually opening for entries in July and closing in August. Categories for entry are : Demo Released, Instrumental, Lyrics (only) and Live. In conjunction with the judging process of the non-Live sections, SCALA host LIVE events at a venue in Adelaide.
